Wedding Rings Photographed, Without Making It Boring

Wedding Rings can be quite difficult to photograph... Not only that...

taking photos of Wedding rings can get boring fast if you do the same thing every time. You’ve seen the usual stuff, rings on flowers, rings in a box, all that. It looks nice, but it doesn’t really say anything about the couple. So here’s a few ways I make it a bit more interesting and actually mean something.

1. Flat Lay Stuff, But Personal

Flat lays are easy, but I like to mix in bits from the day. Could be the invite, some flowers, a bit of ribbon, whatever fits. Sometimes even a beer glass if it suits the couple. It makes the rings feel like part of the story, not just an extra photo.

2. Wedding Rings in Hands Work Every Time

The couple holding hands, showing off the rings, just works. Especially right after the ceremony when it’s still fresh. It feels proper real. If their hands are a bit messy or scratched up, even better. It shows who they are.

3. Random Surfaces

I’ve put rings on boots, rocks, barrels, all sorts. You don’t need anything fancy. Some of my fave shots were just rings on something rough with good light. Feels way more natural.

4. Use Their Story

If they got engaged on a mountain, I’ll stick the rings on a rock. If they love coffee, I’ll shoot them with a cup. It’s small stuff, but it makes the photo actually mean something to them.

5. Keep the wedding rings shots Simple

No need to overdo it. If the rings are cool looking, just shoot them clean. Bit of light, sharp focus, job done. If there’s something engraved or special, get that in the shot too.

Final Thoughts

Your wedding rings are more than just a bit of bling. They’re one of the only things you’ll actually wear every day after the wedding, so it makes sense to get a few proper photos of them on the day. Whether it’s a quick shot on your hands right after the vows or something more personal that ties into your story, it’s worth making sure it feels like you.

Is there a special detail about your rings you'd love to have photographed? Let me know what you'd want to see in your own wedding gallery.
