I’ve always wanted to shoot a wedding at The Wild Pheasant in Llangollen.

Me and my wife once stayed there a few years ago, when we attended a friends wedding at Ty’n Dwr Hall just down the road and we were really impressed by the venue. We knew straight away that a wedding at the wild pheasant would be absolutely perfect!

So when Ashley reached out asking me to shoot his and Donna’s wedding there, I jumped at the chance.

I arrived at The Wild Pheasant at 10am and Storm Dennis was in full swing. Roads were completely saturated and the winds were howling. I knew at this point that this was pretty much going to be it for the day. Thankfully the Wild Pheasant is a place that has copious amounts of natural light and with a large reception area in what is pretty much a conservatory, this provided us with plenty of space to do the group shots. We held off for as long as we could to see if we would get a little break in the weather to head outside and get some photos around the grounds of the Wild Pheasant, but unfortunately it wasn't meant to be. Once the wedding party had finished their wedding breakfast, I stole Donna and Ashley for 20 minutes and went for a short walk around the inside of the hotel, armed with our flash to take the couple portraits. Safe to say they absolutely smashed it!

Early in the evening some of the evening guests who were arriving by bus had called ahead to say that they were stuck in Corwen due to flooding but thankfully they made it through.

I've seen so many couples panic about rain and bad weather on their wedding day, but the truth is, there is absolutely nothing you can do. It's the one element of the day you truly cannot control so mu only advice would be embrace it. Be brave and head outside if you can and I can promise you the results will be fantastic!

I want to say a huge congratulations to Mr and Mrs Williams (Wey!) for letting me be a part of their day and it has been an absolute honour spending the whole day with you! I want to wish you all the best for your future and many, many happy years to come!
