The Wedding Photography Process From Start to Finish - A Brides Guide

Wedding photography is yet another thing you need to add to your list of things to sort for your wedding, however, I'm here to help you understand the wedding photography process from start to finish.
From the outside, it probably looks simple.
You book a photographer, they turn up, they take photos and you get a gallery. You've got a million and one things you have to worry about already when it comes to planning your wedding photography, so my aim is to make the whole process as easy as possible for you. You may be feeling a little apprehensive about your photos (photo anxiety really is a thing - Check out how to overcome it here)

The Photography Booking Process
Once you've taken some time out to look through my website, you might have decided that it would at least be worth reaching out to see if I'm available. You'll fill in the enquiry form, leave a little information and I'll get back to you with my availability. If we're all good to go, we'll set up a chat. That can be in person or online but I'm happy with whatever’s easiest for you.
We’ll talk through your plans, what matters most to you, and how you want the day to be captured.
If you’re happy to go ahead, a deposit secures the date in my diary, your private portal is set up and once that’s done, you’re booked in.
Sweet. What's next?

Before the Wedding
In the run up to your wedding I'll get a Whatsapp group set up with me, you and your partner so we can all keep in touch (You'd be surprised how much quicker this is than bloody emails!) and see if you'll need any help with anything along the way. After all, thats what I'm there for. Sometimes it may be for timeline advice and sometimes it’s just for reassurance. Use it to your advantage!
Around a month before the wedding, we’ll meet properly to go through everything. I understand its not always possible, but I think it's always nicer doing this in person.
We’ll talk through the structure of the day, timings, family group photos, and we’ll build a photography timeline together. That way nothing feels rushed and you know exactly what to expect on the day.
On the Wedding Day
I usually arrive about two hours before the ceremony. This gives me time to capture the atmosphere, details, and those quieter moments before the party REALLY starts. From there, I’m with you right through until around half an hour after the first dance. The big moments. The in between moments. The bits you might miss completely.
One thing I also love doing is giving you an edited photo on the day. This is something you can share on your socials the next day if you want to. Or just to keep for yourselves.

After The Wedding
For me, once the wedding is done, the work really starts. The first job isn’t editing. It’s far more tedious. It's backing everything up. Your wedding is saved onto multiple hard drives to make sure that, if the worst should happen, your photos are always safe.
Within three days, you’ll receive 10 to 15 Sneak Peeks via a blog post on the website and in your private portal.
Your full gallery is usually delivered within four weeks, but during peak season it can take slightly longer, but I’ll always keep you updated.
Every image is carefully edited in my style. As natural and as clean as possible with nothing heavy handed.

The Bit You Don’t Always See
A wedding day might last ten or twelve hours, but the work around it often goes on for much longer.
You don’t need to think about all of it. That’s my job. But I think knowing the wedding photography process form start to finish can help you relax and know your photography is in safe hands.
All we need you to do is just enjoy your day.
